For those who wish to know a bit about my story....
One winter's day in 2009, in a secondary school music classroom in north west London, a crew of aspiring rappers were let down by their regular supplier of lunchtime beats. I had an idea and called everyone back as they were about to leave through the door. With their favorite grime melodies played on an electric guitar and a live drummer holding down the grooves, we had a fire session creating something truly unique! This soon became a regular thing and new guitar melodies were learnt every night before school. Shortly after, I was introduced to digital music production software via old school Bluetooth mp3.
As soon as I first opened the program and keyed in a drum beat I was lost in the unbelievable possibilities that music creation offered. Within minutes I got frustrated, closed the program down, forgot about it and moved on with life.
2 years later, at the age of 18, I woke up and said to myself - you know what? I'm gonna give this FL studio thing a proper try. I soon mastered the basics with a strong DIY ethos, since I had no internet access at the time. Being entirely self taught, this helped me craft my strong individual style without influence from online tutorials.
Around this time I decided to enroll in University to study music. By the time September rolled around, I was getting more confident with my skills. Just before I was due to start however, I fully changed my mind. Since I had taught myself music for so long - why stop now? I switched my course with the aim of acquiring a new skill, and decided to take up architectural design.
During my degree I was still keeping up with my music - in fact I probably spent more time on my music than concentrating on my course! This got to the point where even my tutors noticed my talents were being focused elsewhere. 'You need to spend more time in the architecture studio rather than the music studio!', was one of the comments I received. Of course, I didn't take it completely on board at the time.
By the end of my (successful) degree, I was becoming experienced enough to go my own way with music. This led to me getting my first industry job, teaching music production and running recording sessions with disadvantaged local young people.
Through this work, I was offered the opportunity to fly out to Moldova and teach aspiring youth workers to engage with young people through urban music, across Europe. Whilst on this trip I actually missed my final degree presentation. This gave my lecturers even more reasons to doubt me - but here I am today.
Still producing music professionally, still innovating with my own styles and still working towards my own goals. For example, since 2017 I’ve had the honor of working with 100’s of artists across the globe. I’ve engaged with feedback from 1000’s of people showing appreciation for my craft and creations.
Over 40 Million streams across works with various artists. Invitations from musicians around the world. My music has been through more studios that i'm even aware of. Countless producers sending me messages about how I'm their main source of inspiration. By chance bumped into people who purchased my music in multiple locations. Which is crazy to think of the odds of that happening, like 6 times at least.... Thinking about it now, If I never made that initial step years ago, then I wouldn’t have achieved all that I have – but there’s still loads more ground for me to cover in this industry.
